Be carefree…
I too have several framed pieces of art and photographs just leaning against the wall on my dresser, honestly it’s more to do with the fact that I didn’t feel like getting out the hammer, nails and laser level at the time. Being carefree has never looked so intentional.

I’ve been having fun connecting the dots between breathtaking fashion photography and interior images. The two images, originally from separate ends of the online universe have come together to form a unique relationship.

Bold, unexpected and stripped of unnecessary extras, this pair makes one sexy statement.
I love a good book, and while I am reading more and more on my iPad, nothing seems to replace the good old paperback. As a young one, Barnes & Noble was the place to be on a Friday night. I remember the routine being something like dinner out with the family, then trip to the bookstore, straight to the back area where all the children’s books called out to me with funny titles and charming stories. While today, I see the store a little differently then I did at age 6. I can still pick out the elements that made this little girl swoon.
Between the chocolate color palette of the seemingly endless wooden shelves, and the aroma of espresso and coffee, I was convinced that it was the most charming place my Midwest town had to offer. And back then, they were generous with their upholstered seating options offering lounges and chairs at nearly every turn.
I recently discovered photos of Luytens & Rubinstein bookshop in London. Talk about charm. It embodies everything a bookstore should be. And then it hit me -my latest desire. I must design a bookstore. A quick search for bookstore Interiors had me realizing just how particular I am when it comes to the bookstore experience. I long for that old world charm, but love the lighter modern aesthetic of today. I think the two would make a beautiful baby. All too often bookstores wind up looking as big box and corporate as every other major retailer. In fact, I hate to even call a bookstore a retailer. Those two words should be kept as far apart as possible.
Above are some of my favorite found photos. Surely the bookstore can survive the digital world, I believe the right interior can save anything.

Obsessed.
It’s no surprise to those who know me. But I love tea cups. I rarely make it home from a resell shop or antique market without a new cup and saucer. The problem begins when the cabinets become full and the shelving seems crowded with stacked cups and saucers. What to do with them all?! As the only tea drinker in the apartment, I really only use maybe 3-4 different cups, switching to a new one when I get bored. Perhaps I need to consider some unconventional display or use for them, I particularly like the idea of storing jewelry in them. I have a massive drawer that could use a little reorganizing.

Does your sense of fashion inspire the look of your home, or does your home inspire your look of your fashion?
I grew up in a house of white walls, and believe that is where my fear of white began. As soon as I was old enough to choose the paint color for my bedroom walls, I was madly in love with color. In those younger years, my color of choice was yellow, the color of sunshine. The color that represented my entire existence!
But most of my college years I insisted that every wall be painted a deep saturated hue and still to this day I consider myself a jewel toned girl. But something strange has occurred recently. It’s as if I’ve finally seen enough examples of white being done well to accept it as a viable option.
My current apartment is partly responsible. It was so beautiful as it was, on move-in day. Having just left an apartment with the sexiest plum walls you’ve ever laid eyes on, the white was rather refreshing. I’ve since enjoyed the way the daylight illuminates the space giving it a crisp, clean look.
Now I just need to convince the boyfriend that white is his friend too.

I was getting all excited on pinterest a while back when I began stumbling upon dreamcatchers. Like that first one pictured above, all raw and deconstructed, I could stare at it all day. My recent obsession has created quite the crafty situation here at home where I’ve begun collecting materials for the sole purpose of creating my own dreamcatchers. I’ve managed to finish my first one, thus its straight forward approach (last photo)
but I’ve got some exciting stuff in mind for the next one..
Shortly before Christmas I was commissioned to do an art piece for an Iphone cover. And here it is, in all its glory! Just in time for Valentine’s day. What I adore about the “On Your Case” Etsy Shop is the clean and fresh aesthetic to most of the featured artwork.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
I’m enjoying some time off for the holidays back in my home town, and look who we found!
I love street art, and I’d never expect to find something so striking in Bloomington-Normal, which is why I made it a priority this weekend to go out and photograph Jesus.
‘Tis the season to be Merry!
I had so much fun looking at pretty things online today. When I get an afternoon free to sit with my laptop and a good cup of tea, Pandora radio is usually filling the space with the melodies of Michael Buble, Adele, John Mayer, Nora Jones (She never grows old). And it is in this perfect scenario that I find myself lost in the world of Etsy. With any online market, you’ll have to sift through the junk, but it’s well worth it when you find something that is truly special and not mass produced.
So I went on a favoriting spree. And here, I unveil the official “Things this designer would love to accept from you” List.
This list would not be possible without the work of these fabulous artists and Vintage Sellers:
